Berea, Ky. (November 12th, 2012) - The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference is proud to announce Player of the Week honors for November 5th -
November 11th in Men's Soccer, Volleyball, Men's Basketball and Women's
Romida Nanko, Point Park University - Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the
5-9 Junior - Douala, Cameroon
Point Park University junior Romida Nanko was named the KIAC men's soccer
offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, November 12th.
Point Park won both of their KIAC/GCAC unaffiliated tournament games to
qualify for the NAIA National Tournament. Nanko scored a goal and added an
assist in the Pioneers 4-1 semifinal win against Talladega College. The
junior forward then scored a pair of goals in Point Park's 5-4 win in the
championship game against Asbury University. Point Park will return to
action at the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship. Opening round play is
scheduled to begin on November 17th.
Brianna Strete, Indiana University East - Volleyball Player of the Week
6-0 Senior - Troy, OH
Indiana University East senior Brianna Strete was named the KIAC volleyball
player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, November 12th. This is her
second player of the week award of the season. The No. 12 Red Wolves won
their fourth straight KIAC tournament title last week. They defeated St.
Louis College of Pharmacy (3-0), IU Southeast (3-0), and Point Park (3-2).
Strete finished with a .506 attach percentage and lead IU East with 47
kills. The senior middle hitter surpassed 2,000 kills for her career. The
Red Wolves will return to action on November 17th for their opening match of
the NAIA National Volleyball Tournament.
Trenia Barbee, Asbury University -- Women's Basketball Player of the Week
5-8 Senior - Detroit, MI
Asbury University senior Trenia Barbee was named the KIAC women's basketball
player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, November 12th. Asbury
finished the week 3-0 after defeating Southeastern College (73-56),
Cincinnati-Clermont (74-53) and Kentucky Christian College (83-73). For the
week, Barbee averaged 20.3 points, 9 rebounds and 3.7 assists. She recorded
two double-doubles as well. The senior guard currently ranks 7th in NAIA
points per game (23) and 19th in steals per game (3.8). The Eagles are
currently 4-2 overall. They will return to action on November 16th when they
host Point University.
Tevin Webster, Berea College -- Men's Basketball Player of the Week
6-3 Sophomore - Campbellsville, KY
Berea College sophomore Tevin Webster was named the KIAC men's basketball
player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, November 12th. Berea College
finished 2-0 last week after defeating Boyce College (106-49) and Bryan
College (77-67). Webster recorded a double-double in both contests. For the
week he averaged 20 points and 15 rebounds. He scored 24 points and
collected 11 rebounds against Boyce College. The sophomore forward finished
the week with 16 points and 19 rebounds against Bryan College. He connected
on 70 percent of his field goal attempts (14-of-20) and 85.7 percent of this
free throw attempts (12-of-14). The Mountaineers are currently 3-1 overall.
They will return to action on November 13th when they host Crown College.
