Berea, Ky. (October 15th, 2012) - The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference is proud to announce Player of the Week honors for October 8th -
October 14th in Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country, Men's Soccer,
Women's Soccer, Volleyball, and Women's Tennis



Austin Houchens, Berea College - Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Junior - Bowling Green, KY



Berea College junior Austin Houchens was named the KIAC men's cross country
runner of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. This is his
second runner of the week award of the season. Berea College competed in the
Wilmington Invitational on October 12th. Houchens finished the 8K in fifth
place out of 380 runners with a time of 25:04. The Mountaineers finished 2nd
in the event out of 34 teams. Berea College will return to action on October
20th when they host the Southeastern Classic.





Kim Miller, Asbury University - Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Freshman - Harlan, KY



Asbury University freshman Kim Miller was named the KIAC women's cross
country runner of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. This
is her fifth runner of the week award of the season. Asbury University
competed in the Wilmington Invitational on October 12th. Miller finished
37th out of 340 runners in the 5K with a time of 19:40. The Eagles will
return to action on October 26th at the Kentucky Christian Invitational in
Grayson, KY.





Lauren Crump, Indiana University East - Volleyball Player of the Week

5-8 Senior - Indianapolis, IN



Indiana University East senior Lauren Crump was named the KIAC volleyball
player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. The Red Wolves
finished the week 3-0 after defeating Cedarville University (3-1), Asbury
University (3-0), and Carlow University (3-0). Crump passed the 6,000 career
assists milestone last week. The senior setter has 119 assists last week and
now has 6,066 career assists. She currently ranks 2nd in NAIA total assists
(1,137) and assists per game (11.84). IU East is currently 28-2 overall and
8-0 in conference play. They will return to action on October 16th when they
host Urbana University.





Jessica Batey, Asbury University - Women's Soccer Offensive & Defensive
Player of the Week

5-8 Senior - Maysville, KY



Asbury University senior Jessica Batey was named the KIAC women's soccer
offensive and defensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday,
October 15th. Batey scored three goals last week as Asbury finished the week
1-1-1. She scored a pair of goals in a 4-3 loss to Midway and also scored a
goal in a 3-3 tie with Oakland City University. In addition, the Asbury
senior also played 147 minutes in goal for the Eagles. She played the entire
match in goal in the Asbury 2-1 win over Cincinnati Christian University.
The Eagles are currently 2-8-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They will
return to action on October 19th when they travel to Point Park University.



Kristi Henderson, Indiana University East - Women's Tennis Player of the
Week

Senior - Cambridge City, IN



Indiana University East senior Kristi Henderson was named the KIAC women's
tennis player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. IU east
finished the week 2-1 after earning wins against Midway College and St.
Louis College of Pharmacy. Henderson set a new IU East record with eight
consecutive singles match victories. She won her #5 singles match against
Midway College 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. She also won her #5 singles match against St.
Louis College of Pharmacy 6-1, 6-3 and her #2 doubles match with teammate
Emily Underwood 8-4. IU East is currently 4-9 overall and 4-2 in conference
play. They will return to action on October 20th when they host IU
Southeast.





Dylan Fouts, Asbury University - Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

6-2 Senior - Lexington, KY



Asbury University senior Dylan Fouts was named the KIAC men's soccer
offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. This
is his second defensive player of the week award of the season. The Eagles
finished the week 2-0 after picking up wins at Ohio Christian (3-1) and at
home against University of the Cumberlands (4-1). Fouts only allowed a pair
of goals last week. His play in goal improved Asbury's overall record to
6-6-1. They are currently 0-1-1 in conference play. The Eagles will return
to action on October 16th when they host Cincinnati Christian University.





Trent Popp, Asbury University - Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

5-10 Senior - Danville, IN



Asbury University senior Trent Popp was named the KIAC men's soccer
offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, October 15th. This
is his second offensive player of the week award of the season. The Eagles
finished the week 2-0 after picking up wins at Ohio Christian (3-1) and at
home against University of the Cumberlands (4-1). Popp scored a goal and
added an assist in the win over Ohio Christian. He finished the week with a
pair of goals against University of the Cumberlands. The senior forward
currently ranks 10th in NAIA points per game (2.64). The Eagles are
currently 6-6-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference play. They will return to
action on October 16th when they host Cincinnati Christian University.
