VOLLEYBALL WINS AGAIN

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The 18th-ranked Indiana University East volleyball team concluded
its weekend at the Indiana Institute of Technology Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament
with a 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-18, 15-12 win against No. 17 Madonna University.
The Red Wolves improved to 4-1 against teams receiving votes in the Tachikara-NAIA
Volleyball Coaches Top 25 poll, including two wins against teams in the top 20.
IU East started the day with a 25-15, 21-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-8 win against Ashford
The Red Wolves (25-2) went 3-1 in the two-day tournament, with all four matches
going five sets. No IU East team previously had played more than two consecutive
"We struggled a lot this weekend getting our mental game together, but I've got to
hand it to this group. They figured it out when it mattered the most which was the
last match, specifically the last set," said IU East coach Charlie Brown. "The
reward was how we finished. Not so much who we played, but how we played."
IU East, Madonna, Campbellsville and Indiana Tech all went 3-1 in the six-team
tournament. Madonna won the tournament title based on a fewest-game-lost tiebreaker.
Senior middle hitter Breezy Strete (Troy, Ohio/Troy High School) represented IU East
on the all-tournament team.
IU East returns to action Oct. 9 against NCAA Division II opponent Cedarville
University at Seton Catholic High School. The match starts at 7 p.m.
