RICHMOND - The Indiana University East volleyball team swept Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference leader College of Mount Saint Joseph and crosstown opponent
Earlham College on Sept. 29 at Earlham.
The NAIA No. 18 Red Wolves won 25-23, 25-20, 25-10 against College of Mount Saint
IU East then won 25-3, 25-9, 25-15 against Earlham (5-11).
"(Earlham) is a great venue, and we talked before the matches about the relationship
between IU East and Earlham," said IU East coach Charlie Brown. "It was fun to be
here in the gym with them."
The Red Wolves didn't have much fun in the first set against College of Mount Saint
Joseph. IU East trailed 23-20 before winning the last five points and the set. But
the Red Wolves found their groove by the third set against the Lions. They carried
that momentum into the opening set against the Quakers and tied the school record
for fewest points allowed in a set.
IU East plays a Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tri-match on Oct. 3 at
Cincinnati Christian University. The Red Wolves face Alice Lloyd College at 2 p.m.
and tri-match host CCU at 4 p.m.

RICHMOND - Freshman Katie Lahmann (Richmond, Ind./Richmond High School) finished
13th in her debut race to highlight the day for the Indiana University East cross
country teams on Sept. 29 at the Earlham College Invitational.
Lahmann finished the 5K women's race in 22:01. IU East, which was able to field a
full team for the first time this season, finished fifth in the team standings.
Sophomore Seth Prince (Albany, Ind./Delta High School) was 27th in the men's 8K race
in 30:12 and junior Aaron Mayers (Lynn, Ind./Randolph Southern High School) was 28th
in 30:37 for the Red Wolves men, who were unable to post a team score due to a
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won the men's team title. Eric Linn of Anderson
University won the men's race in 27:14.
Anderson won the women's team title. The Ravens' Desiree Maran won the women's race

MARION, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's tennis team dropped a pair of
matches Sept. 29 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The Red Wolves (2-5 on the fall season) lost their morning match 5-4 against
Anderson University (0-1).
IU East then lost 9-0 against Indiana Wesleyan (12-1), the Crossroads League regular
The Red Wolves started the day by sweeping the three doubles matches against
Anderson. IU East also got a No. 6 singles win from redshirt freshman Johnny Gray
(Jimtown, Ind./Elkhart High School), but couldn't come up with a fifth point.
Gray won 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 in his collegiate debut.
IU East concludes its short fall season Oct. 5 at Adrian College.
