Conference is proud to announce Player of the Week honors for September 17th
- September 23rd in Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country, Men's
Soccer, Women's Soccer, Volleyball, and Women's Tennis
Dylan Grunn, Point Park University - Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Senior - Honesdale, PA
Point Park University senior Dylan Grunn was named the KIAC men's cross
country runner of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 24th. This
is his second runner of the week award of the season. Point Park
participated in the St. Vincent Invitational on September 22nd. Grunn
finished 5th out of 137 runners in the 8K with a time of 26:53. This is his
third top-five finish in three races this year. The Pioneers finished the
event in 8th place out of 12 teams. They will return to action on October
6th when they participate in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Pittsburgh,
PA.
Hana Jiraskova, Point Park University - Women's Cross Country Runner of the
Week
Sophomore - Lanskroun, Czech Republic
Point Park University sophomore Hana Jiraskova was named the KIAC women's
cross country runner of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September
24th. Point Park participated in the St. Vincent Invitational on September
22nd. Jiraskova finished 17th out of 139 runners in the 5K with a time of
21:03. The field included several NCAA Division II schools and an NCAA
Division I school. The Pioneers finished 6th out of 13 teams. They will
return to action on October 6th when they participate in the Carnegie Mellon
Invitational in Pittsburgh, PA.
Caitlin Burroughs, Indiana University East - Volleyball Player of the Week
5-11 Junior - Richmond, IN
Indiana University East junior Caitlin Burroughs was named the KIAC
volleyball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 24th.
This is her second player of the week award of the season. The Red Wolves
finished the week 2-0 after picking up conference wins against Brescia
University (3-0) and Point Park University (3-2). Burroughs finished the
week with 28 kills and 48 total attacks. The junior middle hitter had a .500
attacking percentage for the week. IU East is 20-0 overall and leads the
KIAC with a 4-0 record. They will return to action on September 26th when
they host Indiana Wesleyan University.
Frazer McKinlay, Point Park University - Men's Soccer Defensive Player of
the Week
5-8 Junior - Perth, Scotland
Point Park University junior Frazer McKinlay was named the KIAC men's soccer
defensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 24th.
The Pioneers finished the week after defeating Daeman College 2-0 and losing
to Grove City College 1-0. The junior defender played all 180 minutes this
week with Point Park giving up only 1 goal. Point Park is 4-4 overall and
leads the KIAC with a 3-0 conference record. They will return to action on
October 2nd when they travel to Wittenberg University.
Cliff Evans, Asbury University - Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
6-0 Freshman - Wilmore, KY
Asbury University freshman Cliff Evans was named the KIAC men's soccer
offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 24th.
Asbury finished the week 1-1 last week after defeating Mount St. Joseph 1-0
and losing to Transylvania University 2-1 in overtime. Evans scored the lone
goal in the victory of Mount St. Joseph. It was the Asbury midfielder's
first career game-winner which snapped a three-game losing streak. Asbury is
currently 4-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play. The Eagles will return to
action on September 25th when they travel to Berea College.
Rebecca Batey, Asbury University - Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the
Week
5-7 Senior - Maysville, KY
Asbury University senior Rebecca Batey was named the KIAC women's soccer
offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 24th.
Asbury finished the week 1-1 after defeating Berea College 10-0 and losing
to Indiana Wesleyan 4-0. Batey recorded the first 4-goal game in school
history against Berea. Asbury is 1-4 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The
Eagles will return to action on September 25th when they host Lincoln
Memorial University.
Alejandra Matiz, Brescia University - Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Sophomore - Bogota, Columbia
Brescia University sophomore Alejandra Matiz was named the KIAC women's
tennis player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 24th.
Brescia finished the week 2-1 after defeating Indiana University East 6-3
and Alice Lloyd College 9-0. Matiz won all five matches last week. She won
her #2 singles match 6-2, 6-3 and #1 doubles match 8-6 against IU East.
Against Alice Lloyd College, she won her #1 doubles match 8-0. She ended the
week by winning her #2 singles match 6-2, 6-3 and #1 doubles match 9-7
against Franklin College. The Bearcats are 2-3 overall and 2-1 in conference
play. They will return to action on September 27th - 29th when they play in
the USTA/ITA Fall Regional in Georgetown, KY.
