VOLLEYBALL
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East volleyball team took control of its own
destiny in the race for the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular
season title with a pair of league wins on Sept. 22 at Seton Catholic High School.
The 19th-ranked Red Wolves (18-0, 4-0) capped the day with a 25-18, 21-25, 14-25,
25-17, 15-10 win against No. 31 Point Park University (14-3, 4-1).
IU East started the day with a 25-3, 25-7, 25-9 win against Brescia University
(0-10, 0-4).
IU East and Berea College are the only two schools without a KIAC loss.
"What turned it around was 14 players realized they were underperforming after the
third set and 14 players knew they were better than what they were playing and 14
players rose to the occasion," Red Wolves coach Charlie Brown said of the comeback
win against Point Park.
Senior middle hitter Breezy Strete and junior middle hitter Caitlin Burroughs had 16
kills apiece against the Pioneers.
IU East won the first 19 points of the match against Brescia and never looked back.
IU East hosts No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan University on at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 at
Seton Catholic High School. The Red Wolves will wear 1980s-style uniforms as part of
a "Throwback Night" event.
