Conference is proud to announce Player of the Week honors for September 10th
- September 16th in Men's Cross Country, Women's Cross Country, Men's
Soccer, Women's Soccer, Volleyball, and Women's Tennis
Caitlin Burroughs, Indiana University East - Volleyball Player of the Week
5-11 Junior - Richmond, IN
Indiana University East junior Caitlin Burroughs was named the KIAC
volleyball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 17th.
The Red Wolves finished the week 4-0 after competing at the Olivet Nazarene
University Tournament. They earned wins against Trevecca Nazarene (3-0), #7
Grand View (3-2), Robert Morris (3-0), and Olivet Nazarene (3-0). Burroughs
finished the week with 35 kills and 79 total attacks. The junior middle
hitter was named to the all-tournament team. She currently ranks 10th in
NAIA hitting percentage (.387). IU East is 18-0 overall and 2-0 in
conference play. They will return to action on September 22nd when they host
Brescia University.
Austin Houchens, Berea College - Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Junior - Bowling Green, KY
Berea College junior Austin Houchens was named the KIAC men's cross country
runner of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 17th. Berea
College hosted the Judge Wilson Invitational on September 15th. Houchens set
a course record in the 5 mile event with a time of 26:20. He finished in the
top position out of 68 runners. The Berea College men's team finished the
event in first place. The Mountaineers will return to action on September
29th at the Greater Louisville Invitational.
Kim Miller, Asbury University - Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Freshman - Harlan, KY
Asbury University freshman Kim Miller was named the KIAC women's cross
country runner of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 17th.
This is her third runner of the week award of the season. Asbury University
competed in the Friendship Invitational at Cedarville University on
September 15th. Miller ran a personal best in the 5k in a field that
included several top 25 NAIA teams and NCAA Division II Cedarville. The
freshman runner finished 11th out of 128 runners with a time of 19:21. The
Eagles will return to action on September 29th at the Greater Louisville
Classic.
Caitlin Pasternack, Carlow University - Women's Soccer Offensive Player of
the Week
5-10 Freshman - Belle Vernon, PA
Carlow University freshman Caitlin Pasternack was named the KIAC women's
soccer offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September
17th. Carlow finished the week with a 9-1 victory over Berea College on
September 15th and tied Geneva College 0-0 (2OT) on September 12th.
Pasternack led the Celtics to their first conference win of the season with
three goals and an assist against Berea College. Carlow is 2-0-1 overall and
1-0 in conference play. They will return to action on September 25th when
they host Mount Aloysius College.
Lauren Birch, Midway College - Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
5-6 Sophomore - Lexington, KY
Midway College sophomore Lauren Birch was named the KIAC women's soccer
defensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 17th.
Midway finished the week 2-1 after earning wins against Ohio Midwestern
(7-2) and Berea College (3-0). Birch played 270 minutes in three games last
week and led the back line in a successful shutout of conference opponent
Midway. The Eagles are 2-2-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They will
return to action on September 17th when they host Kentucky Christian
College.
Alex Sala, Point Park University - Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
5-8 Senior - Weiler, Austria
Point Park University senior Alex Sala was named the KIAC men's soccer
offensive player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 17th.
The Pioneers finished the week 2-1 overall after earning a pair of
conference wins against Asbury (2-1) and Brescia (3-2). Salas scored two
goals on the week including the game-winner at Berea. He also scored a goal
at Asbury. Point Park currently leads the KIAC with a 3-0 conference record.
They will return to action on September 21st when they travel to Grove City
College.
Paige Froman, Indiana University East - Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Junior - Rushville, IN
Indiana University East junior Paige Froman was named the KIAC women's
tennis player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, September 17th. IU
East finished the week 1-2 after defeating Carlow University (7-2) and
falling to Asbury (6-3) and Cedarville University (9-0). Froman won her #2
singles match against Carlow 6-0, 6-1 and her #1 singles match against
Asbury 6-0, 6-0. She also paired with teammate Cheltsi Hinners to earn a #2
doubles win against Carlow 8-2. The Red Wolves are 1-6 overall and 1-1 in
conference play. They will return to action on September 22nd when they
travel to Brescia University.
