RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's tennis team fell 6-3 in a Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against Asbury University on Sept. 15 at Glen Miller Park.

The Red Wolves (1-6, 1-1) won three of the five contested singles matches against the Eagles (2-0, 2-0).

Redshirt junior No. 1 Paige Froman (Rushville, Ind./Ball State University), sophomore No. 3 Emily Underwood (Milton, Ind./Lincoln High School) and redshirt senior No. 5 Kristi Henderson (Cambridge City, Ind./IUPUI) all won their singles matches.

"We played strongly and contested a number of close matches against a good Asbury team," said IU East coach Erskine Ratchford. "Paige, Emily and Kristi had some great singles wins. Early in the singles I thought we had the potential to win all five matches.

"Emily had a strong and convincing win, and Kristi dug deep and pulled out a hard-fought win. Paige's win was a very strong message of her improvement in playing level. Definitely her best match ever!"

IU East was a doubles service break and a singles supertiebreak from winning two more matches. Freshman No. 4 Chelsea Helms (Centerville, Ind./Centerville High School) played through an ankle sprain and went to a third set supertiebreak against an Asbury player who has been dominant against KIAC opponents.

The Red Wolves play at KIAC opponent Brescia University on Sept. 22.
