Red Wolves coach Brett Crowley announced the signing June 19. Lewis will compete in the hurdles and sprints for IU East. "We're pleased to have Shana on board," Crowley said. "She will be very helpful in our track and field program, especially in the sprints and hurdles." Lewis finished third in the 100 meter hurdles at the 2012 Preble County meet and qualified for the 100 meter hurdles finals at her Ohio district meet. She has a personal-best time of 18.9 in the 100 meter hurdles. Shana is the daughter of Idella and Alvin Lewis. She plans to major in business administration. "I chose IU East because it is close to home and I love the campus," said Lewis, who graduated from Tri-County North as a junior. Lewis is the first athlete from Tri-County North to join the Red Wolves track and field program. She joins Kyle Hall of South Dearborn in IU East's 2012 track and field recruiting class. IU East is an NAIA program. The Red Wolves won eight events at the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet and sent two athletes to the NAIA Outdoor National Championship in 2012.
