Team Indiana Wins 30th Annual Mid-States All-Star Meet

INDIANAPOLIS – Team Indiana won 41 individual and relay events on the way to a first place finish in the 30th Annual Mid-States Championships held at the IUPUI Natatorium on January 4, 2014. TeamIndiana scored 4189.50 pts to second place TeamKentucky’s 3298.50 pts.

 The traditional two day format was consolidated into a one day session due to the impending inclement weather inIndianaon the second day of the meet.

Team Indiana was led by five time event winner Michaela Spears who won the 50 & 100 Breaststroke, 200 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley as well as the 100 Backstroke events in the 10 & Under Girl’s Division.  Drew Kibler also from TeamIndiana was a four event winner in the 13-14 Boy’s division with first place finishes in the 50, 100 and 200 Freestyle events and 100 Butterfly.

4 Individual and 4 relay records were broken over the one day competition. One individual meet record was broken by Team Indiana’s Michael Brinegar who broke the 13-14 Boy’s 1650 Freestyle record (16:17.27) breaking his own meet record of 16:38.64 set in 2013.
