One of the worst promotions in MLB history took place on July 12, 1979. Where was it, what was it called, and what did it cost to get into the game?
On July 12, 1979, the Chicago White Sox hosted "Disco Demolition Night" between games of a double header with the Detroit Tigers. Admission to the game was a disco record to be blown up by local radio DJ Steve Dahl. The second game was cancelled due to fans rushing the field and the destruction done to the outfield grass from the burning of disco records.
