How to Upload Documents and Create Links to Them on the Left Links Bar
This tutorial will show you how to upload documents and then create links to them on your website's Left Links bar. Under Your Website Tools, click on the "Manage / Upload Documents" link.
This will bring up a list of your existing documents. Underneath, you will see the Document Uploader tool.
Note: There are a number of file types that can be uploaded, but the most common ones are .doc, .pdf, .xls, .ppt, .txt, and .zip files.
For this example, we will upload a PDF file of our 2010 Football Roster and add a link to it under our Football link. First, give the document the name that you want it to display in the "Enter Description" field.
Click the "Browse" button and locate the file on your computer. Then double-click it.
The file path will then appear in the box below the Description. Now click the "Upload" button.
You will now see the uploaded file added to the Document list. Click on the uploaded file's description.
This will bring up the information for our uploaded document. Right-click on the link that says "Click here to download this file" - and select "Copy Link Location" (Firefox) or Copy Shortcut (Internet Explorer).
Back on your website's home page, click on "Edit Links" on the Left Links bar.
This will bring up the "Edit Your Left Navigation/Section Link Bar" tool. Click on the "Add New Link" button.
Look for the "Add a Link Manually" section.
Right-click in the URL box and paste the document link that we copied earlier.
Then give the link a title and click the "Update" button.
Locate the new item in the MIDDLE link bar at the bottom.
Mouseover the item, click on your link, drag to the desired location, and release.
Finally, click the "Save Links" button at the bottom of the page.
You will get a pop-up box asking if you want to save your new link bar - just click "OK".
That's it! You will now see your link in your website's Left Links bar.
