How to use the New Skin feature on your iHigh.com website
One of the nice features of an iHigh.com site is the ability to customize the page with your school mascot and colors. The iHigh tech team recently introduced a New Site Skin option. This tutorial will provide a step-by-step process on how to utlize the New Skin.
The Default iHigh website skin has a Wide logo on the left side with a banner to the right listing your site's Name and Mascot/Slogan.
The New Skin option gives you the abililty to even further customize your website. To get started, you'll need to login to your Administrator account. Click "LOG IN" on your Top Menu.
Next, enter your Administrator account email and password, then click the "Login" button.
This will open your Administrator menu. Under "Your Website Tools", click on the "Change site header, colors, and skin" link.
You can now enter/edit your Site Name, Mascot/Slogan, and also add an optional Subheading. These will be displayed in your New Skin header.
Like the Default skin, you can customize your website's colors. You can select colors by either inputting the html color codes or by using the scroll at the top of the color bar to scroll down and clicking your mouse in the selected color on the color box. For your convenience, the color codes for most major colors can be found on the following website: http://www.webmonkey.com/reference/Color_Charts.
There are five different options for your website's Left Menu Background Color: Variation of Primary School Color, Variation of Secondary School Color, Light Gray, Dark Gray, and Black.
Now you will select the Site Skin Type. To use the New Skin, click on the box labeled "Rectangles and Stripes". The Banner Type should be set as "Use HTML Banner (settings below)".
You can now choose your School Name and Mascot/Slogan fonts. If you entered a Subheading, it will also be dislayed using the Mascot/Slogan font. Examples of each font are provided in the chooser pane.
While the Default skin uses the Wide Logo, the New Skin uses two seperate images: a Round/Rect Logo and an optional Banner Photo. First, you will need a logo that is 300 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall to use as your Round/Rect Logo. For a sleek look, use a PNG file with a transparent background.
Under the Round/Rect Logo section, click the "Browse" button to locate the image file on your computer.
After selecting the Round/Rect Logo file, you can choose a Banner Photo. The Banner Photo will be placed in the left side of the background of your header. Click the "Select From Gallery" button.
This will open a window allowing you to choose an image from the Photo Galleries on your website. Click on a Gallery thumbnail on the left.
Then click on a photo from that Gallery to use as your Banner Photo.
Now click the "Save Site Degin" button.
The new skin will now be displayed. You will see your Banner Photo on the left side, the Round/Rect Logo in the center, and your Site Name, Mascot/Slogan, and Subheading on the right side.
