Home » General NewsExciting News for Accounting StudentsJanuary 17, 2013 By J Armstead of Hoover High SchoolThree teams from Hoover High School made it to the top ten in the AICPA’s, StartHereGoPlaces, Project Innovation! The teams are: Runaway Red: Caroline Amerson and Daryl Clinton The Firm: Malcolm Cox and Cameron Dole Don’t Stop Accounting: Elliott Davis and Holly Cruce What's at stake? The winning teams will receive scholarships for themselves and funding for the school! First place: $4,000 scholarship & $3,000 for your school Second place: $3,000 scholarship & $2,000 for your school Third place: $2,000 scholarship & $1,000 for your school What did they do? The students were assigned to come up with a brand new idea for a television show that centers on the CPA profession. They created an idea that will sell and succeed, developed a proposal giving an overview of the show, prepared a production budget and wrote a script.
What’s next? The students are challenged to use their idea and script to produce a 15-minute preview of their pilot. Then, the public will vote on line as a part of the selection process. Just so you know, the results of public vote will be a factor in the decision. The final hurdle will involve a live presentation to the competition judge who is a key decision maker where the students will have one last chance to tell him/her why their show will be a smash hit.
