   Bucs vs. Hueytown Golden Gophers series

 
   Hueytown has fielded football teams since 1921 thus having a 90-year history. Their series began with 3 straight shutout wins for the Golden Gophers: 28-0 in 1965; 28-0 in 1966 and 21-0 in 1967. The Bucs had 2 straight shutout wins of their own with a 6-0 win in 1968 and 26-0 in 1969 and won again in 1970 by a score of 45-6. The teams didn't play in 1971 & 72. The Bucs won 36-14 in 1973 before Hueytown won 2 straight with a 14-7victory in 1974 and 7-6 in 1975.
   The Bucs went on a winning streak through the rest of the 1970's into the early 1980's. They won 3-0 in 1976; 6-3 in 1977; 20-0 in 1978; 23-7 in 1979; 31-17 in 1980; 21-13 in 1981; 14-8 in 1982 and 17-7 in 1983. The 2 teams wouldn't meet again for more than 20 years when they met in the state playoff in 2007. The Bucs narrowly won that 1st round game 44-42 and again in the second round in 2008 with the Bucs winning 45-13.
   With re-aligning of the regions the Bucs and the Hueytown Golden Gophers now meet during the regular season for the first time in almost 30 years.The Bucs hold a 14 win record over Hueytown who has 5 wins.
