EVANSVILLE PRESS RELEASE
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville women's basketball head coach Oties Epps unveiled the Purple Aces' 2014-15 non-conference schedule Tuesday morning. UE's non-conference slate includes 12 games, including an exhibition with cross-town rival Southern Indiana, and is highlighted by contests against three teams that appeared in the 2014 NCAA Tournament, including Louisville, who advanced to the Elite Eight.
Evansville will host Southern Indiana at the Ford Center on Nov. 8 for its lone exhibition game, before opening the regular season at home against Austin Peay on Nov. 16.
The Aces will then take to the road for their next five contests, which includes trips to 2014 WNIT qualifier Ball State (Nov. 19), IPFW (Nov. 21), West Virginia (Nov. 26), UT Martin (Nov. 29) and Murray State (Dec. 3).
West Virginia posted an impressive 30-5 record last season and claimed the Big 12 regular-season championship, before falling in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to LSU in Baton Rouge, La. UT Martin finished its 2013-14 campaign with a 24-8 mark and captured both the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season and tournament tiles, before suffering a narrow, 60-58, defeat to North Carolina in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Following their five-game road trip, UE will return to the Ford Center for three-straight games, as Evansville will host Miami (Ohio) (Dec. 6), before welcoming Oakland City for their annual Education Day game on the morning of Dec. 9. The Aces will conclude the home stand by hosting Troy on Dec. 18.
UE wraps up its non-conference schedule with a pair of tough road games at IUPUI (Dec. 21) and perennial power Louisville (Dec. 29). IUPUI won a school-record 23 games last season and defeated Central Michigan in the first round of the WNIT, marking the program's first-ever postseason victory to cap a 23-10 season. Louisville finished 33-5 last season with three of their losses coming to eventual national champion Connecticut. The Cardinals' other two losses came at Kentucky and to Maryland in the Elite Eight.
Evansville's Missouri Valley Conference schedule will be released when it becomes available.
