Ball State Adds to Athletics Staff & Makes Promotions

MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State has announced the hiring of two individuals and additional
staff changes in its athletics department.

Roger Jones has been named the new manager of ticket sales and fan development,
while Shawn Sullivan has been named the new director of marketing and promotions.

Sullivan will move into the role most recently held by Chris Ulm, who will move back
to corporate sales and work with Play-by-Play Sports.  The group will handle the
Cardinals' corporate partner program as well as manage the broadcasting services for
Ball State.

In addition, Pat Quinn's title has been changed to deputy director of athletics for
internal affairs, and Karin Lee's title is now senior associate athletics
director/senior woman administrator.  Brian Hardin's title will now be deputy
director of athletics for external affairs.

Sullivan has nine years of marketing and communications experience on campuses in
major markets, including from 2011-13 as the director of sales and marketing at
Northwestern.  For the Wildcats, Sullivan served as the marketing contact for the
men's basketball program and was a consultant to football and the remaining 17
intercollegiate athletic teams.  He produced two record-setting men's basketball
marketing plans centered around "Chicago's Big Ten Team."  Sullivan has served as an
adjunct professor at Roosevelt University in Chicago, and from 2005-11 he worked in
a variety of roles at Illinois-Chicago. He spent his final five years at UIC as
assistant athletics director, leading the marketing, ticket and licensing

Jones comes to Ball State after spending 2013-14 as the assistant director of
marketing and ticket sales at Ohio University.  He facilitated the management,
marketing, sales, promotion and execution of the Ohio ticket sales team while
overseeing and developing sales leads and social media strategies for the Bobcats.
Prior to that, Jones was an intern for IMG, a global sports, media and fashion
business.  He interned for IMG in 2012-13 for the Ohio and Marshall University
properties.  In 2011-12, Jones was a marketing associate in the Ohio marketing
department plus interned in the Bobcats' ticket office.  Jones is a 2012 graduate of
Ohio and will work with the Ball State property for Playbook Management
International, which was contracted by the university to assist with its ticket
sales efforts.
