PURDUE RELEASE

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue saw its streak extend to 17 consecutive years with at least one player getting selected in the NFL Draft when cornerback Ricardo Allen was taken by Atlanta with the 147th overall pick in the fifth round on Saturday. Teammate Kevin Pamphilefollowed shortly after when Tampa Bay made the offensive tackle the 149th overall selection in the same round.

Allen, a four-year starter out of Daytona Beach, Fla., wrapped up his collegiate career second all-time in school history with 13 interceptions. Appearing in 50 career games, including 48 starts, he racked up 253 total tackles, 203 of which were unassisted, with three sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss and 15 passes broken up. His four career interceptions returned for a touchdown are the most by any player in Purdue history. Allen is the first cornerback from Purdue selected since Jacques Reeves was selected in the seventh round in 2004.

Pamphile, a two-year starter out of Miami, Fla., took over at left tackle as a junior and started 20 straight games over the past two seasons. Having only played one season of high school football, he started his Boilermaker career on the defensive side of the ball prior to moving before the 2011 season. Former teammates Dennis Kelly and Nick Mondek were the last Purdue offensive linemen selected by Philadelphia and Houston, respectively, in 2012.
