BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Joey DeNatopitched six shutout innings as No. 8 Indiana (33-12, 17-2) belted 14 hits to down Penn State (17-27, 5-13) on the road Friday, 10-0. IU starting pitchers have not given up an earned run in their last 28.1 innings pitched.

DeNato gave up just four hits with three strikeouts and a walk. He improved to 11-1 on the year and becomes just the third pitcher in program history to win at least 11 games in a single season. The San Diego, Calif., native sits just one win shy of tying the Indiana program record for most victories by a pitcher in a single season.

Thomas Belcherpicked up the three-inning save for Indiana, his third of the season. He finished with four strikeouts and surrendered just a pair of hits.

Scott Donley had three RBI in the game, going 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Brad Hartongkept his hot bat going with a 3-for-4 night, adding an RBI and his first triple of the year.

Sam Travis connected on his eighth home run of the season in the fourth inning. He scored three runs on the night. Kyle Schwarberhad a pair of hits and also scored three times.

Senior Dustin DeMuth reached base for the 42nd-straight game as he was 2-for-4 in the game with an RBI and run scored. Will Nolden was the fifth Hoosier to achieve a multi-hit game, as he was 2-for-3 with and RBI sac fly.

The Hoosiers struck in the bottom of the first starting with a triple to the gap in right center by Schwarber. Donley later brought him home with a two-out RBI single to right as the first inning ended with IU in front, 1-0.

Indiana put a crooked number on the board in the top of the third. It started with a Schwarber walk before Travis reached on a fielder's choice and Schwarber ended up at third base on a throwing error. Donley then ripped the ball to left center for a two-RBI double.

Hartong kept the hits rolling with a triple over the left fielder's head to bring home DeMuth, who reached on a single where Donley was gunned out a third base. Nolden gave Indiana its fourth run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to center after DeMuth stole both second and third base to set up the opportunity. The Hoosiers led 5-0 after three innings.

Travis stepped to the plate in the top of the fourth and did something no else had done yet this season at Medlar Field by hitting a solo home run over the center field wall to put IU in front 6-0.

The Hoosiers played add on in the top of the ninth. A Schwarber single and Travis walk put runners on first and second with no one out. Austin Cangelosi launched a deep fly ball to left that PSU's left fielder could not handle. That miscue scored Schwarber and put Travis at third base. DeMuth gave IU its eighth run with an RBI sac fly to left. Craig Dedelowhad a pinch-hit single to right that plated Cangelosi. Indiana later scored its 10th and final run thanks to Brian Willhite reaching on PSU's fourth error of the night.

Game two of the series at Penn State will begin at 2 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon at Medlar Field.
