WASHINGTON, D.C.. -- Senior Callie Dennison and sophomore Kristin Gutierrez combined on a five-hit shutout to lead Butler to a 2-0 victory over host Georgetown in the final game of a three-game BIG EAST series on Saturday, April 19.  The win gave the Bulldogs the series, 2-1.

Dennison, getting her second series' start, blanked the Hoyas on five hits through four innings, while picking up her second win in as many days.  Gutierrez came on in relief in the fifth inning and didn't allow a hit over the final three frames.  She retired eight of the final nine batters she faced, while earning her first save of the season.

The Bulldogs (19-24, 7-7 BIG EAST) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a leadoff single by Cassie Rupel, a wild pitch, a sacrifice bunt and a run-scoring single by Krosley Ogden.

The final run of the game came an inning later when Kristen Boros doubled down the leftfield line, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice bunt by Maria Leichty.

Freshman Brandyce Sallee led Butler's offense with a pair of hits, including a double.  Boros, Rupel and Ogden had the only other hits in the game for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs will continue their road stretch with a non-conference doubleheader at Eastern Illinois on Tuesday, April 22.  The first game of that twinbill in Charleston, Ill., is slated for 3 p.m. (CT, 4 p.m. in Indianapolis).
