Men's Golf Finishes Day One at IU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A pair of Purple Aces are tied for 11th place as the University of Evansville men's golf team wrapped up day one at the Hoosier Invitational in a tie for sixth place at the IU Golf Course.
Leading the Aces with totals of 144 in the two rounds of play were Alex Turner and Quinn Vilneff. Vilneff posted identical rounds of 72 while Turner began the morning with a 74 before posting a 1-under 70 in round two.
Rick Voyvodic continued his solid play finishing the afternoon with a 149. He is in a tie for 41st place. Parker Hensely completed Saturday's rounds with a 150. He is in a tie for 47th. Will Knights completed the UE contingent with 160.
The University of Michigan leads the way going into Sunday's final round. The Wolverines posted a 567 and are one shot ahead of Indiana. Michigan had four of its players in the top 11, including Reed Hrynewich. Hrynewich leads the individuals with a 138 after posting the low score of the day in round one with a 3-under 68.
The Hoosiers posted a 568 on the day and were led by David Mills, who is in second place just two spots off the lead. The duo is well in front of Akron and Youngstown State, who are tied with a 582. Evansville tied IUPUI for sixth place with a 587.
Tomorrow, the teams complete the tournament with one more round at the IU Golf Course.
