Cream Drops Crimson, 24-14, in Spring Game

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - In front of 9,231 fans on a picturesque Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium, the Cream earned a 24-14 victory over the Crimson in Indiana's annual Spring Game. Shane Wynn, Flo Hardin, Collin Rahrig and Bobby Richardsoncaptained the victorious team.
Wynn finished the game with five receptions for 141 yards and one touchdown. Cream quarterback Tre Robersonthrew for 176 yards with a 16-yard strike to Wynn and a 65-yard TD run.
Cream defensive tackle Nate Hoff paced all defenders with seven tackles, including one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. Rashard Fantwas right behind him with six stops, one TFL, one interception and one pass breakup.
After an Aaron Del Grosso41-yard field goal opened the scoring, Roberson reached the end zone first with his long scamper to put the Cream ahead 10-0 at the end of the first.
The Crimson responded in the second as Myles Grahampounded his way into the end zone from two yards out, the first of his two touchdowns.
With the score still 10-7, Wynn and Roberson hooked up with 2:36 remaining in the third quarter to bolster the Cream lead to 10. Davis then opened the fourth quarter scoring with his TD and the Cream held an insurmountable 24-7 advantage.
Nate Sudfeldfound Graham from 12 yards out for the final touchdown of the afternoon, but it was not enough as the Cream earned a 10-point triumph.
Sudfeld completed 29-of-40 (72.5 percent) for 273 yards with one TD and two INTs. Roberts registered 47 yards on nine carries, good for a 5.2 average, with three grabs for 32 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Clyde Newton paved the way for the Crimson with five tackles, a half-sack and the team's lone interception. Safety Chase Dutra and cornerback Tim Bennett each tallied four stops and linebacker David Cooperhad three tackles and one sack.
Playing for both squads, David Kenneymade seven stops with a game-high two sacks.
The Hoosiers wrap up head coach Kevin Wilson'sfourth spring practice with session No. 15 on Tuesday morning. IU opens the 2014 season at Memorial Stadium against Indiana State on Saturday, Aug. 30.
