IUPUI RELEASE

Schedule of Events/Heat Sheets (.pdf)

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The IUPUI men's track team will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 12) night when the Jaguars compete in the Illinois Twilight at the University of Illinois Track Stadium, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Eastern. IUPUI runners are scheduled to compete in four different events on Saturday in the third meet of the outdoor season.

The Jaguars will open the night's running events with two entries in the 3,000m steeplechase as senior #J.D. Smith and freshman Peyton Reed# are scheduled to participate. Smith holds the school record, having run 9:21.27 last season. The Carmel-native ran a time of 9:22.36 in his first steeple of the year at the Miami Invitational last weekend. Reed will make his collegiate debut in the event on Saturday.

Later, five Jaguars are scheduled for the 1,500m event, led by school record holder Ryan Cutter. Cutter ran his school record time of 3:49.01 last season and is looking to go under his season-best time of 3:54.26. Also running the 1,500 are junior Nathan Westfall, sophomores Mitch Hubner and Amos Schreuder and Reed. Westfall owns the third-fastest 1,500 in school history at 3:59.39 and Hubner ran a personal best time of 4:01.12 last weekend.

Sophomore Sam Roudebush is IUPUI's lone entry in the 3,000m and looks to lower his school record time of 8:45.74. The Noblesville, Ind.-native broke the school record on Mar. 22 at the 49er Classic in his first-ever outdoor 3K.

IUPUI will cap the evening with 10 Jaguars running the 5K event. Highlighting the entries are Roudebush (14:52.63), Miguel Lozano (14:55.65), Xavier Reed (15:07.28) and Pryce Ragains (15:13.45). Roudebush's time of 14:52.63 is the fourth-fastest in program history and Lozano ranks seventh in school history at the 5K distance. Reed and Ragains also have times inside the program's top 10 while Spencer Burgin and Abiel Mogos are both coming off quality performances at last weekend's Miami Invitational.
