INDIANAPOLIS – Butler baseball fans will be able to watch all three games at St. John's this weekend as the Bulldogs have been put in the national spotlight. ESPN 3 will cover the games on Friday and Sunday, while Fox Sports 2 will air game two of the series on Saturday beginning live at 2 p.m.

A Look at Butler
Butler will look it improve on their 2-1 BIG EAST record with a three game series at St. John's this weekend. Chris Maranto and Marcos Calderon highlight an impressive offensive lineup at the top of the order with two of the highest batting averages on the team. Each player has over 30 hits and 15 RBIs making them two of the top players in the conference.

Michael Fries, Quincy Quintero and Will Amador are three student-athletes that impact games regularly. Although these three players provide Head Coach Steve Farley with power in the lineup, the Bulldogs have a unique stat with eight home runs on the year hit by eight different players.

The weekend pitching rotation will feature two left handers and one righty who will throw on Saturday. Gunner Johnson will start on the mound for BU against the Red Storm on Friday. The reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week is 2-2 on the year with a 2.79 ERA. He has 27 strikeouts in 29 innings of work and has opponents hitting just .219.

Kyle Allen will jump into the rotation for Butler on Saturday. Allen is 3-3 on the year with a 4.37 ERA. Saturday will be his fourth start of the season, yet he is near the team lead in appearances with 12. The final arm to be used by Coach Farley is junior lefty Eric Stout. The hard throwing Stout is the team leader in strikeouts with 36. He has eight starts under his belt and posts a 3-5 overall record.

Farley Reaches Career Win No. 600
Butler Baseball Head Coach Steve Farley recorded his 600th career win on Wednesday with a 6-5 victory over the Ball State Cardinals.

Scouting St. John's (17-13, 1-2 BIG EAST)
The Red Storm hold a 17-13 overall record after taking two losses in a three-game series at Villanova. STJ took the opener 3-0, but were defeated in the series with back-to-back one loss runs at 5-4 and 6-5.

Jarred Mederos is the top offensive player in the St. John's lineup as he comes into Friday hitting .343 with five doubles, a triple and one home run. A starter in all 30 games this season, Mederos also leads the team in RBIs with 23.

Matt Harris, Michael Donadio and Robbie Knightes are other members of the Red Storm to keep an eye on this weekend. Harris has the second highest batting average on the team at .295 and is right behind Mederos in the RBI category with 22. Donadio is the home run leader in the clubhouse and Knightes is yet another reliable bat as he holds a .383 batting average in 18 starts.

Game one's starter will be James Lomangino who posts a 2-4 record in eight starts. Lomangino posts a 4.73 ERA and has a team-high 37 strikeouts in 45.2 innings of work. Saturday's starter is set to be Ryan McCormick who comes to the diamond this weekend with a 3-1 record. He has the third-best ERA on the team at 3.95 and is second on the team in strikeouts with 34. The series will come to a close with Chris Kalica battling it out against Stout. Kalica has the second-best ERA on the team at 2.65. He is 4-1 on the year with 24 strikeouts in 34 innings pitched. Sunday will only be his fourth start of the season as he was used primarily as a mid-relief arm early in the season.

Road Woes
Butler enters the weekend with a 1-8 road record, yet that record isn't bad as it looks. The Bulldogs hit the road to take two of three vs. Western Illinois. The series, originally scheduled to be played at Macomb, Ill. was moved to a neutral site that featured a field turf. The lone true road win came at Wabash on March 26 (6-2).
