ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced its 2014 Men's and Women's Swimmers and Divers of the Year Wednesday evening and IUPUI junior diver Cody Watts was selected as the conference's Men's Diver of Year as voted on by the league's head coaches.
Watts had an impressive season for the Jaguars this past year capped off by a stellar two-day performance at the 2014 Summit League Championships. Watts started the championships by winning the three-meter dive with a score of 334.40, before taking second in the one meter with 314.70 points. Both of those point totals moved him into the Top-10 in IUPUI history in those events and resulted in him being named the 2014 Summit League Diver of the Championships.
By being named the Summit League Diver of the Year, he becomes the first IUPUI diver since 2009 to win the award. That year, Jaron Tuttle claimed his second career Summit League Diver of the Year honor.
Watts' scores at the conference meet qualified him for the NCAA Zone C Championships, where he proceeded to finish 25th in the one-meter dive and 27th in the three meter.
Rounding out the league awards, South Dakota's Greysen Hertting was named the Summit League Women's Diver of the Year, while Denver's Dylan Bunch and Samantha Corea were selected as the Summit League Men's and Women's Swimmers of the Year, respectively.
