ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference on Wednesday recognized a total of 676 winter sports student-athletes on Wednesday, naming them to the 2014 Winter Academic All-Big Ten team. The Boilermakers earned 42 spots on the list, including 30 members of the Purdue men's and women's swimming and diving teams.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Purdue women's basketball sophomore Hayden Hamby was one of just nine athletes, conference-wide, to post a flawless 4.0 grade point average.
