WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. --With the regular season now complete, the Purdue men's basketball team will face Ohio State in Thursday's first round of the Big Ten Tournament to be contested at Banker's Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Tip is scheduled for approximately 2:30 p.m. (ET) or 25 minutes after the completion of the first game between Indiana and Illinois.
It will mark the fourth meeting in the Big Ten Tournament between the two squads, with Ohio State winning in 2007 and 2012, while the Boilers defeated Ohio State in the 2009 Championship game, 65-61, in Indianapolis.
Ohio State has defeated the Boilermakers twice this year by scores of 78-69, in Mackey Arena on New Year's Eve Day, and 67-49 in Columbus on Feb. 8. In both games, the Boilermakers were within four points with under 10 minutes to play. In the second meeting, Ohio State ended the game on an 18-4 run over the last nine-plus minutes of the contest.
Ohio State leads the all-time series, 87-83, and is the only Big Ten team to own a winning record against Purdue. The Buckeyes have won five straight meetings with the Boilermakers.
The winner will advance to Friday's quarterfinals against fourth-seeded Nebraska. The Huskers upset Wisconsin, 77-68, on Sunday night to grab the fourth seed. Tip for that contest will be at approximately 2:30 p.m. (ET) on Friday.
