SCOUTING THE LEATHERNECKS
Western Illinois comes into the game looking to snap out of its current six-game losing skid, with the team's last win coming on January 30 at IUPUI.

In the team's last game, a 64-54 loss at South Dakota, Garret Covington scored a game-high 19 points while pulling down eight rebounds. Jabari Sandifer scored a dozen points, while Michael Ochereobia added 10 tallies in the game.

On the season, the Leathernecks have just one player averaging in double-figure scoring - Covington - who averages 14.5 points per game. Three others: Adam Link (9.3), Sandifer (8.4), and Ochereobia (8.4), average over eight points per game.

Ochereobia has a team-best 139 rebounds (5.1 per game), while Covington and Link average 4.8 and 4.7 boards, respectively. Sandifer has a team-best 82 assists, while Jordan Foster has dished out 49 helpers on the year.

Ochereobia leads the team with 40 blocked shots - over half of the team's total on the year - while Sandifer has a team-best 33 steals.

YOUNG GUN

IPFW freshman Mo Evans has scored 289 points this season, averaging 10.0 points per game. His point total ranks as the ninth-most among freshmen in school history.

CONFERENCE WINS

IPFW is 8-4 this season in Summit League play, which is tied for the fourth-most wins by the Mastodons in Summit League play, and could end the year with the best overall finish since IPFW joined the league in 2007-08.

A WINNING PACE

IPFW's 20 wins this season is tied for the fourth-most wins in a single-season in program history. The school record for wins is 23, set in 1992-93 by the squad that advanced to the NCAA Division II National Tournament.

DRAFTED STAR

Former Mastodon standout Frank Gaines was selected with the first pick in the second round by the Maine Red Claws in the 2013 NBA Development League draft. In 29 games with the Red Claws, Gaines is averaging 20.1 points per game, which leads the Red Claws, and 11th in the D-League.

LOOKING GOOD

In the middle of February, CollegeInsider.com put out its Top 100 Sexiest in College Basketball. Listed among the groupings, in no particular order, was IPFW's Tony Jasick.  A few days later MidMajorMadness.com put out its list of 10 Sexiest Mid-Major Basketball coaches, where Jasick topped the list. We're not sure if GQ is in fact calling, but if they do, we can make that work as well.
