Final Stats

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Indiana Baseball dropped its weekend finale against #1 Oregon State (5-2) by a final score of 8-1 in a top-10 match-up. A quality start from LHP Will Coursen-Carr(6.2 IP, 2 ER) went to waste when a slew of unearned runs came across for the Beavers in a 6-run seventh inning.

Coursen-Carr got Indiana (2-5) out of a bases-loaded no-out jam in the second stanza. It started with a chopper to Dustin DeMuthat third. The senior quickly stepped on the bag and fired home to nab the two lead runners. Coursen-Carr came right back with a backwards K, ringing up Nick Rulli for the third out.

Sam Travis stroked a lead-off double in the fourth frame. Scott Donleythen slapped a single into shallow center field to place Hoosiers on the corners. DeMuth fell behind 0-2 before battling back for a full-count, a pitch he pulled through the right side of the infield for a 1-0 Hoosier lead.

Oregon State answered in the home half, however, plating a pair to go ahead for good. The 2-1 score remained until a disastrous seventh inning. It all started when the lead-off batter reached on an error. The Beavers took advantage of the defensive gaffe and buried IU with six runs in the inning, all unearned.

OSU starting pitcher Scott Schultz went the distance, tossing 95 pitches in a 1-run complete game. He scattered six hits and walked none while fanning six to earn the win.

Sophomore reliever Sullivan Stadler worked the ninth, posting another scoreless inning. In three career appearances, Stadler has posted a goose egg each time.
