Turnovers Lead to Setback at DePaul

CHICAGO – The Butler women's basketball team was defeated by the final score of 97-64 on Saturday night by the DePaul Blue Demons at McGrath-Phillips Arena. A full-court press from DePaul forced Butler into committing a season-high 25 turnovers which resulted in 32 points for the home team.
DePaul, the top-scoring team in the BIG EAST, improved to 21-6 on the year with the victory. They had 14 players see action on Saturday, 12 of which scored at least two points. Megan Rogowski led all players with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting. She hit five of her six 3-point field goals and also added four assists.
Butler had four players reach a double figure score total. Daress McClung and Taylor Schippers each scored 155. McClung added eight rebounds while Schippers connected on three 3-point field goals after coming off the bench for the second-straight game. Liz Stratman had 12 points and Haley Howard was in the scoring column with 11.
The game was broken wide open midway through the first half as the Blue Demons went on a 32-5 run in an eight minute span that gave them a 34-9 lead. Butler scored two quick buckets at the beginning of the game, but the ball pressure from DePaul switched the momentum.
Adding to the trouble was the hot 3-point shooting from DePaul as the Blue Demons ended the night 13-for-23 from long distance (56%).
The Bulldogs will move forward to their final home game during the month of February as they host Xavier on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The game will be a "Fog Out" with grey shirts and pizza being handed out to the first 100 students in attendance. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
