INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler baseball team will return to action this weekend with three games, in three days, against three different opponents. The action will take place in South Carolina with two games at Wofford and one at S.C. Upstate.

Opening Weekend
Harsh winter weather conditions drastically changed Butler's opening weekend as the team was unable to play the games originally scheduled. Head Coach Steve Farley was able to put together a two-game series vs. Illinois State in Nashville, Tenn. to get the season underway. The Bulldogs split the series vs. the Redbirds by pulling off a comeback 7-6 win in game two after dropping a 9-1 decision in the season opener.

Amador Provides Power
Catcher Will Amador recorded three extra base hits vs. Illinois State ending the two-game series with two doubles and a triple. He tallied seven total bases, one RBI and one run scored.

RBI Leader
Chris Maranto currently leads Butler with three RBIs. He made one start over the weekend.

Butler Bullpen
Kyle Allen made his first appearance of the year in game two of the Illinois State series. He picked up the win after tossing the final 2.1 innings of the game. Allen only allowed three hits which generated one run. He struck out one batter and didn't allow any extra bases hits down the stretch.

Stout Leads Team in Strikeouts
Eric Stout took the mound in the season opener, tossing four innings against the Redbirds. Despite taking the loss, Stout showed some skills by striking out seven batters while only issuing one walk.

Weather Update
The forecast calls for rain on Friday with an 80% chance of rain in the Spartanburg area. Saturday and Sunday should be great days for baseball with temperatures in the high 60's, low 70's and most importantly a slim chance of rain. If Friday gets washed out an update will become available on ButlerSports.com

Up Next
Butler will play a three-game series at Samford next weekend to bring in the month of March. The 2014 season home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 vs. Marian.
