Home » Wrestling NewsW STATE FINALS: A team previewFebruary 26, 2011 By E. Shawn Aylsworth of Hoosier AuthorityBy E. Shawn Aylsworth Managing Editor Three of the eight teams from last year’s field return Feb. 26 for the 16th Annual Team Wrestling State Tournament to be hosted once again by Center Grove. Mishawaka – the defending state champion and winner of two of the last three team tourneys – was eliminated by No. 4 Penn at sectionals this year, so the Cavemen will not be in attendance. The returning trio that will be on site consists of ninth-ranked Roncalli, No. 3 Perry Meridian (the two face each other right off the bat in the quarterfinal round set for 10 a.m. ET), and top-ranked Crown Point – the last team not named Mishawaka to win a team title. The victory by the Bulldogs came two years ago over Perry Meridian, and the rankings say that that matchup may indeed determine the state champion once again this weekend. Here is a preview of Saturday’s big day at CG, courtesy of ihsaa.org: STATE FINALS (team) Date: Saturday, Feb. 26 Times: Quarterfinals begin at 10 a.m. ET, with semifinals and championship round to follow.
