SEE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS IN THE PLAYER TO THE RIGHT OF THE PAGE!! Senior defender Konner Atkin scored off a header with two minutes remaining in the second half to give the Braves the winning goal. A corner kick set the play up, allowing Brebeuf to oust the Panthers for the third straight season (the Braves won 4-0 in the sectional championship last year and 1-0 in the sectional final in 2008). Scoring was at a premium throughout most of the game as the score was knotted 0-0 at the half. A misplayed ball by the Panthers, however, allowed junior Nick Kirkpatrick to sneak a shot past the keeper and take the lead eight minutes into the half. North Central tied the game up with 16 minutes left after junior Jake Keller was fouled in the box and received a penalty kick. The Panthers ramped up their intensity thereafter and had numerous runs on the goal, but they were unable to capitalize. North Central ended the game with seven shots on goal, all of which were saved by Braves senior goal keeper Erich Toth. Brebeuf had only two shots on goal, but both of them were good for the score. Brebeuf advances to play Indianapolis Chatard in a 7 p.m. ET semifinal Oct. 7 at North Central, with the winner to face either Indianapolis Broad Ripple or Herron in the championship game Saturday.
