GSw PANTHER INV.: #1 Chesterton fends off #12 Fishers, #4 North Central

Ninth-ranked Chesterton won only three of 12 events but still managed to thwart the efforts of No. 12 Fishers, which slid past No. 4 host North Central by 1.5 points for second place at this four-team event rounded out Dec. 28 by No. 7 Hamilton Southeastern.

The Trojans won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a 3:35.69 from Vanessa Krause, Julia Campbell, Kate Curley, and Kelly Craig. Individually, Krause captured the 100 butterfly in :57.49 and Curley took the 200 individual medley in 2:09.70.

“Second place in this meet was very close at the end, and our girls simply came up a bit short,” said HSE coach Andy Pedersen. “A special congrats to the 200 medley relay for their victory today (Courtney Mudd, Gabi Mazero, Kylie Sutherlin, and Robyn Clevenger in 1:49.70), and also to Courtney for winning the 100 backstroke (in 1:00.65).”
