BB SECTIONALS: Postseason dates, sites for boys basketball
December 10, 2012
By E. Shawn Aylsworth of Hoosier AuthorityThe lineup for the 103rd Annual IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament has been finalized. Here’s a look at all the postseason sites and when the teams will be in action, courtesy of ihsaa.org:
SECTIONALS
Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 26; Wednesday, Feb. 27; Friday, March 1; Saturday, March 2
Times: 7 p.m. single game, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. doubleheaders, 7:30 p.m. championship (all times local)
Admission: $6 session, $10 season
About the draw (Sunday, Feb. 17): To conduct the random drawing for the girls basketball state tournament, the IHSAA places ping-pong balls representing each school in a given sectional into a “lottery” air-mix machine. A fan in the bottom of the machine blows the balls around the inside of the transparent container, and air then forces each ball up through a tube in random order. For example, the first ball retrieved from the machine will be the visiting team in Game 1 with the second ball representing the home team in Game 1. The third ball to come out is the visitor in Game 2 with the fourth ball the home team in Game 2. That same method is followed through all 64 sectionals and 16 regionals.
