W RANKINGS: Perry Meridian, Ev. Mater Dei, Cathedral start 1-2-3

The Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association has released its initial set of rankings for the 2012-13 season, and to no one’s surprise two-time defending state champion Perry Meridian leads the way as we enter this weekend’s first action.

The Falcons – a four-time state runner-up as well – pace a first five that’s rounded out by 12-time state champ Evansville Mater Dei, two-time state runner-up Indianapolis Cathedral, Merrillville, and 2009 champion Crown Point (last year’s runner-up).

Franklin Community and two-time runner-up Penn (tied for sixth), 24-time state champion Bloomington South, Center Grove, and 2010 runner-up Yorktown finish off the rest of the initial Top 10.
