COMMENTS: Talk about your classic letdowns. A week off a Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference title-sharing 13-7 road upset of then-No. 1 undefeated Carmel, the Giants get bushwhacked at neighboring Pike – the Red Devils’ first huge win since reaching the 5A state finals in 2007.

FINAL SCORE: Zionsville, 19-17
COMMENTS: Ah, those sandbagging-two-weeks-ago Eagles! Without a monsoon this time around, senior QB Parker Dunshee (17 of 26 for 231 yards and a TD plus a successful “Hail Mary” on 4th & 16 in the last minute that led to his game-winning 20-yard field goal) is able to open it up – especially on a 77-yard scoring bomb in the second quarter to John Naumcheff that set the tone for an upset.

SECTIONAL 14
Plainfield (5-4) at 4A #4 Roncalli (7-2)
GAME TIME: 7:00 pm ET, Roncalli Field (WXNT, 1430 AM).
COACHES: Brian Woodard, 50-27 in 7th year at Plainfield. Bruce Scifres, 207-72 in 23rd year at Indianapolis Roncalli.
SAGARIN RATINGS: Indianapolis Roncalli, 87.45, 14th overall, 2nd in Class 4A. Plainfield, 65.88, 77th overall, 19th in Class 4A.

LAST OUTING: Columbus East defeated Bedford North Lawrence, 35-31, Oct. 12. East Central lost to Indianapolis Roncalli, 20-13, overtime, Oct. 12.
OPPONENTS' RECORDS: Columbus East 30-51, East Central 37-26.
SERIES LAST 15 YEARS: Columbus East, 6-2.
LAST MEETING: Columbus East, 27-17, sectional, Oct. 28, 2011.
FINAL SCORE: Columbus East, 26-7
COMMENTS: One of the jolting results of the evening as the post-Kiel Olympians roll on the road in a toss-up against a Trojan team that must have been a bit winded still from last week’s OT home loss to No. 4 Roncalli. That makes it five of the last seven and six of the last nine seasons that East Central is eliminated by the O’s.
SECTIONAL 20
3A #4 Hamilton Heights (8-1) at West Lafayette (6-3)
GAME TIME: 7:30 pm ET, Gordon Straley Field.

SERIES LAST 15 YEARS: Tied, 1-1.
LAST MEETING: West Lafayette, 20-19, sectional, Nov. 4, 2011.
FINAL SCORE: Hamilton Heights, 18-0
COMMENTS: Thus the Red Devils go quietly into that good night as the Huskies earn sweet revenge for last year’s one-point sectional championship defeat.
SECTIONAL 21
3A #2 Indianapolis Chatard (7-2) at 3A #14 Danville (7-2)
GAME TIME: 7:00 pm ET, Danville field.

LAST MEETING: Indianapolis Chatard, 42-0, sectional, Oct. 28, 2011.
FINAL SCORE: Chatard, 48-20
COMMENTS: About what was expected and about as good as the Warriors have been able to do over a nightmarish last dozen seasons, eight of which have been ended by Chatard in the sectional (with another one in a regional).

FINAL SCORE: West Washington, 42-12
COMMENTS: Holy heavy-handed sectional payback, Batman! In a virtual toss-up, the host Senators flip-flop it around by 59 points from last year’s lopsided ouster.
