VB RANKINGS: 2A Providence, 1A Cowan take over top spots

The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association has released its fourth set of volleyball polls for the 2012 Indiana high school season, and we have a pair of new leaders as Class 2A Providence trades places with Wapahani in going from second to first and 1A Cowan climbs from fourth to first in supplanting now-No. 3 Barr-Reeve.

Elsewhere, we find …

• 4A: Avon trades places with Penn in moving from fifth to fourth, Westfield does likewise with Indianapolis Cathedral in going from seventh to sixth, Seymour ascends from ninth to eighth, and Shelbyville bumps up from 10th to ninth.
• 3A: Bellmont swaps spots with Indianapolis Chatard in moving from third to second, Brownstown jumps from sixth to fourth, and Fairfield flies up from eighth to sixth.
• 2A: Eastern Greene trades out with Tell City in going from fifth to fourth, Wheeler rockets up from 10th to sixth, Clinton Central makes its debut at No. 9, and Southwood re-enters the fray at No. 10.
• 1A: Loogootee noses up from third to second, Indianapolis Lutheran moves from seventh to sixth, Trinity Lutheran goes from ninth to seventh, and Lafayette Central Catholic inches ahead from 10th to ninth.
