FB RANKINGS: Columbus East new leader in Class 4A

The Associated Press has released its fourth set of polls for the 2012 Indiana high school football season, and we have a new No. 1 in Class 4A as Columbus East trades places with Indianapolis Cathedral in going from second to first.

The other four season-long leaders – Class 5A Carmel, 3A Indianapolis Chatard, 2A Fort Wayne Luers, and Class A Lafayette Central Catholic – remain the same. Elsewhere we find …

• 5A: Penn pushing up from fifth to fourth, Avon ascending from seventh to fifth, Fort Wayne Snider creeping up from eighth to seventh, and Chesterton climbing from 11th to 10th.
• 4A: Leo leaps from sixth to third, Concord climbs from seventh to fourth, Jasper jumps from ninth to sixth, Pendleton Heights bumps up from 10th to seventh, and Greenwood goes from 11th to 10th.
• 3A: South Bend St. Joseph's swaps spots with Western Boone in moving from sixth to fifth, Corydon does likewise with Mishawaka Marian in going from eighth to seventh, and North Montgomery noses ahead from 11th into a tie for 10th with holdover No. 10 Hamilton Heights.
• 2A: Fountain Central rises from 13th to ninth, while North Posey jumps from 14th to 10th.
• 1A: Pioneer pushes up from fifth to fourth, Whiting rises from seventh to fifth, North Central (Farmersburg) noses up from eighth to seventh, Sheridan goes from ninth to eighth, West Central climbs from 11th to ninth, and Attica ascends from 13th to 10th.
