With the Indiana high school girls golf season teeing off the 2012-13 sports year July 31, the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association has released its preseason poll for the ’12 season. And your No. 1 to begin the year is Penn.

A four-time state champion – the last crown coming in 2005 as part of a four-year run that netted three state titles – the Kingsmen pace a first five of 1976 state champ Yorktown, 1980 champ Carmel, two-time champion Noblesville (back-to-backs in 1986 and ’87), and Chesterton.

The Top 10 is rounded out by Zionsville, two-time defending state champion Hamilton Southeastern (a four-time winner overall), Center Grove, Valparaiso, and record-holding 11-time champ Martinsville.
