The Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association has released its third set of polls for the 2012 season, and we have a pair of new leaders as Jasper has taken over from Norwell in Class 3A and Delphi has done the same thing in supplanting South Spencer in Class 2A.

The two other leaders from last week’s polls – 4A Lake Central and 1A Lafayette Central Catholic – stay the same. Elsewhere inside the Top 10s …

  • 4A: Homestead bumps up from fifth to fourth, Portage ascends from 10th to fifth, New Albany inches up from eighth to seventh, New Palestine jumps from 14th to eighth, and Elkhart Central rockets up from 18th to ninth.
  • 3A: Silver Creek climbs from third to second, Mishawaka Marian moves from fifth to third, Frankfort jumps from seventh to fourth, Leo leaps from the unranked into a tie for seventh with West Lafayette (previously sixth), and North Harrison jumps from unranked to ninth.
  • 2A: North Central (Farmersburg) climbs from fourth to second, Union County noses up from fifth to fourth, Park Tudor bounces all the way from 13th to fifth, Alexandria does likewise in going from 19th to sixth, Wheeler pulls off the unranked trifecta in moving into seventh, and Hebron makes it 4 for 4 in going from unranked into a tie for eighth with Northfield (up from 15th).
  • 1A: South Central (Elizabeth) climbs from seventh to fourth, Washington Township leaps from 18th to eighth, Rising Sun rises from 14th to ninth, and Cowan and North White both go from unranked into a tie for 10th.
