Fifth-ranked Carmel has just enough to come away with the team victory April 10 as the Greyhounds totaled 58.5 points to slip past fourth-ranked host Pike (57) and No. 14 Ben Davis (51.5) in girls track & field action.

Carmel posted wins in four events: the 1600-meter run (Renee Wellman in 5:23), the 3200 (Allison Jacobsen in 11:12.2), the 300 hurdles (Alyssa Wozniak in :50.2), and the 4x800 relay foursome of Taylor Cotherman, Gina Genco, Jacobsen, and Lauren Kahre in 10:12.6.

But it was a sweep of the top three spots in both the 1600 and the 3200 that gave the Greyhounds the points needed to prevail in the three-way meet.

The meet did feature two double winners, and both were from the host Red Devils. Jailyn Henderson took the shot put (36’2”) and the high jump (5’4”), while Chelsea Yeadon captured the 100 (:11.86) and the long jump (16’6.5”) in leading Pike to a meet-high eight individual victories.
