GBB RANKINGS: Mt. Vernon (Fortville) takes over 3A top spot

The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association has released its 11th set of polls for the 2011-12 Indiana high school girls basketball season, and we have a new No. 1 in Class 3A as Mt. Vernon (Fortville) takes over the top spot from previous leader Norwell.
The other leaders from last week – 4A Hamilton Southeastern, 2A Evansville Mater Dei, and 1A Fort Wayne Canterbury – stay the same with sectionals slated to start Feb. 6. But elsewhere inside the respective Top 10s …
- 4A: McCutcheon moves out of a tie for ninth with Fort Wayne Snider into eighth, while Elkhart Memorial bumps up from 11th to 10th.
- 3A: Angola trades places with NorthWood in going from fourth to third, Benton Central swaps spots with Hamilton Heights in moving from sixth to fifth, Brownstown trades out with Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran in going from eighth to seventh, and Edgewood completes the Class 3A equivalent of a Mitt Romney in flipping to ninth while Western Boone flops into 10th.
- 2A: Triton Central trades places with Tipton in going from fifth to fourth, Southridge bumps up from seventh to sixth, South Ripley slides up one spot from eighth to seventh, and Sullivan does the same in nosing up from ninth to eighth.
- 1A: Vincennes Rivet rises from fourth to third, while Oregon-Davis jumps from sixth to fourth.
