The Indiana High School Swim Coaches’ Association has released its 10th and final set of polls for the 2011-12 girls swimming season, and we find only one change inside the Top 10 heading into sectionals.
That would be 1985 state champion Columbus North, which swaps spots with six-time state runner-up North Central (Indianapolis) in going from 10th to ninth. Otherwise, there are no changes to the rest of the lineup led by 25-time defending state champ Carmel.
The Greyhounds lead a next seven of defending runner-up Homestead, Chesterton, Mount Vernon (Posey), Zionsville, 1980 runner-up Penn, Crown Point, and three-time runner-up Center Grove (the last coming in 2010).
The rankings are made up by scoring a theoretical 16-place meet using the times/scores of the returning Top 18 individual event times from last year’s sectionals and state finals as well as the fastest reported times of this season, including relays (if a coach did not turn in relay times to the official IHSAA VarVee reporting site, that team's ranking would reflect that they have no relay points).
Teams are listed by ranking followed by school and vote total. The IHSSCA’s Top 42 (from Jan. 30):
