The “Indiana Wrestling Report” with Hoosier Authority Executive Director Mike McGraw and assistant coach Matt Schoettle of defending state champion Perry Meridian. During the year, Mike & Matt will focus on the top teams, individual wrestlers, and human-interest stories the sport has to offer in the Hoosier state.
This week, Episode 7 begins with a look at some of the state’s standout wrestlers in the upper weight classes – guys like heavyweights Kaden Suter of Martinsville, Bremen’s Abraham Hall, Wesley Bernard of Indianapolis Cathedral, and Perry Meridian’s Donte Winfield; 220-pounders such as Indian Creek’s Keith Knura, Tyler Kral of Crown Point, and Kourtney Berry of Merrillville; and 195-pound favorite Mitch Sliga of Fishers.
The fellas then discuss the juggernaut sectionals that will take place at Shelbyville (where No. 7 Roncalli, No. 12 Greenfield-Central, No. 14 Warren Central, and No. 16 New Palestine all will be vying for a crown), Mishawaka (No. 9 Penn and No. 17 South Bend Clay), Elkhart Memorial (Jimtown and the sixth-ranked host Chargers), Mooresville (No. 9 Franklin Community and No. 15 Center Grove), and Evansville Central (third-ranked Mater Dei and No. 10 Reitz).
Finally, the boys take a gander at how the draw for the 17th and final team state tournament might unfold as well as some surprising team and area outcomes from around Indiana this season.
Be sure to check back each week for the next installment of this video series so you can stay up to date with all the inside news on wrestling this season – only from HoosierAuthority.com, the Indiana high school sports authority!
