Boys beat Archie, Clinton

It was a good week for the Holden Boys Basketball team as it won two games to improve 3-2 on the season entering tough games this week with Sherwood, Richmond and Concordia.

 

Holden 54, Clinton 38

Summary: Three Eagles scored in double figures in the win, led by Matt Borgen's 17 points.  He was three for four from three-point range. Coleman Anstine added 15 points, five steals and three assists. Center Sam Lairson contributed 11 points, six boards and four blocks.

Holden 45, Archie 33

Summary: Sam Lairson had a big game with 18 points, nine rebounds and six blocks. Defensively, Jordan Sullins was the impact player of the game by containing the Whirlwinds' best player. Sullins finished with five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Christian Holzer added seven points and five rebounds.

JV results:

Clinton 45, Holden 33

Summary: The Eagles couldn't overcome 20 percent shooting in the opening game. Reece Crabtree and Gavin McAllister had 14 and 10 points, respectively, in the loss.

 Holden 38, Archie 30

Summary:Gavin McAllister's dunk highlighted the win. Zach Birkle chipped in six points and six rebounds. Tyler Schoonover had seven points and two assists while Aaron Dougherty had six points and four steals.
