Holden softball has a new home. Instead of playing at the City Park, the Lady Eagles had their games moved to West Chestnut ball fields, located just north of Casey’s on 131 Hwy by the Forward Community Church. Coach Debbie Riley said the field was meant to make the team more successful. “When we played at the city park, we were at a disadvantage because everyone else had regulation size softball fields,” she said. “Also we could never hit home runs.” That wasn’t the case at the new home as the Lady Eagles hit four home runs this year. Sam Christian hit two home runs while, Andrea Davis and Dani Kilgore each had one apiece. The new home also seemed to help the team get better as they finished with a respectable 9-15 record despite having only three seniors on the team. They were Sam Christian Sarah McAninch and Bailey Nash. All were starters on the team. As for individual accomplishments, the softball team had three academic all-conference, four all conference, and four all district players. The three Academic All-Conference were: Micole Klover, Sarah McAninch, Andrea Davis. The four All-Conference and all-district players were: Sam Christian, Dani Kilgore, Sarah McAninch, and Macy Oswald.
