December 10, 2012

The Viking Boys Bowling team at home on Saturday afternoon for their first home match of the season started with a group of community leaders to throw out the ceremonial first ball. The Vikings invited the following to thank them for the support they provide throughout the year.

Huntington Mayor, Brooks L. Fetter

Assistant Chief, Pat Scher

Huntington North High School Principal, Chad Daugherty

All three threw the balls at the same time and all kept the balls on the lanes and out of the gutters. Thank you again for your support.

The match was then started with the solo singing of the National Anthem by 7 year old Audrey Rittenhouse, daughter of Matt and Beth Rittenhouse and Granddaughter of Viking Head Coach Doug Scott

The Vikings who are in First place in the Hoosier conference started strong and maintained momentum throughout the first game.

The Vikings were led by Senior Adam Harris-Shoemaker rolling a game high of 237 followed by Zac Tackett’s 212, Tyler Kreep’s 188, Trent Kline’s 175 and AJ Bickel’s 160 winning all 5 individual matches and a combined total pins of 972 gave the Vikings a 10 to 0 lead at the end of the first game.

In the second game Senior Tyler Kreep lead the Vikings rolling a solid 247 game followed by Shoemakers second high game of 246 and Tackett’s 181, Bickel’s 158 and Jon Scott substituting  for Kline rolled a 148. The Vikings won 4 out of 5 individual matches and again most total pins of 980. The Vikings total pin fall for the match was 1952 pins and took the match with a 19 to 1 victory over Jay County.

The Vikings will next be in action on Saturday December 15th at the 2012 Boone Grove Invitational in Hebron, Indiana

The Viking who have performed well in this tournament have place First in 2009, First in 2010 and Fourth in 2011 and are looking to bring home the title in 2012
