Super Bowl XLV
After missing the first four games of the regular season due to suspension, Ben Roethlisberger came back to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to another super bowl. For the Steelers, it’s their third super bowl in six years and their opponents, the Green Bay Packers, are going to their first super bowl since the 90’s. Many people are expecting this to be a great game between 2 of the league’s best quarterbacks and some of the top defenses in the NFL. The Packers are fighting to bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay and the Steelers are looking for their 7th super bowl in team history. In this game, Aaron Rodgers outplayed Ben Roethlisberger and the Packers defense made more plays. Green Bay got off to a quick 21-3 lead before Pittsburgh made a comeback. The lead was cut to 21-17 and it seemed that the Steelers were poised for another comeback. However, Packers linebacker Clay Matthews forced a fumble and got the momentum back on Green Bay’s side. After Pittsburgh’s third turnover, the packers took a 31-25 lead. Roethlisberger got one more chance to win the game but his pass on 4th and 5 to Mike Wallace was broken up by Tramon Williams. This was the end of the game and Rodgers was awarded the Super Bowl MVP award for his 3 touchdown performance.
