City of Hoover to Host National High School Summer Showcase Baseball Event

The City of Hoover and The Hoover Baseball Club are sponsoring a High School baseball event at the Hoover Spain Park Complex, Hoover High School, Shades Mountain Park, Homewood High School and Samford University on May 3-June 2, 2012.  Over 30 high school teams will compete.

Some of the best high school teams in AL, GA and FL will play in this three-day event.  Fans and scouts can see the players that will represent their schools next spring.  Admission will be charged at the gate.

Only AHSAA (Alabama High School Athletic Association) teams can participate so this will truly be a pre-season kickoff for the high school season next year.  Local teams include Hoover, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Trussville and Pinson Valley.  Many other high schools statewide will visit the city of Hoover and compete as well as teams from Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

In addition to the high school competition, the AHSAA is hosting their state baseball umpire’s camp during the event.  Over 80 umpires and instructors will work within the tournament. The AHSAA conducts state camps for each varsity sanctioned sport.
